The show, which began in 1967, was one of the first international exhibitions of French art. The Ministry of Culture did not allow the exhibition of its works on the international stage. It was decided to rebrand it as Feria Interdité in 1976, and to relaunch it in 1984. For the first three years of its existence, the ferialia had been a one-man show. In 1989 the organizer lost his claim to the title and he was forced to resign from organizers of the fertilizer market events. He died in 1994, leaving behind his wife and their four children. Since then the fern presentation has been enriched with young participants from other countries. In 2000 a second exhibition dedicated to centenary of the death of Jeremy Maynard, died at the age of 20.
In 2004, the Association pour le Jeune Délirénoire invited young artists from over 30 countries to open their works to the public. The feralia will expose the international art of young artists in the use of materials: ferns, fruits, natural materials and bio-commodities.
